"They used to call me rabbit teeth in school," Lady Gaga Tweeter on Saturday, along with a picture of her upcoming Vogue cover. "And now I'm a real live VOGUE BEAUTY QUEEN!"

The mag's pastel-themed cover shot shows the "Poker Face" singer looking lean, draped with neutral fabrics, while rocking a pink bob, bleached eyebrows and deep purple lipstick.

Fans of Carrie Underwood's budding acting career won't have too much longer to wait for her silver-screen debut. The singer's first film, Soul Surfer, is set to hit theaters April 8.

Soul Surfer chronicles the life of Hawaiian surf champion Bethany Hamilton, who lost her entire left arm in 2003 as a result of a shark attack in her home waters of Kauai. The teenaged Hamilton overcame her injury through perseverance and her strong Christian faith, and continues to surf and serve as an inspirational public figure today.

Underwood portrays Sarah Hill, the youth group leader at Hamilton's church, who provides invaluable support as the young surfer struggles with her loss. The real-life Hill is still a youth minister and has been working with junior- and senior-high students on Kauai for more than a decade.

Soul Surfer has a satellite site geared as a ministry resource for churches and faith-based youth groups, which has posted some photos straight from the movie's set for fans to take a look at.

Mark Wahlberg's Trip To Afghanistan

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - U.S. presidents aren't the only ones who make surprise visits to troops in Afghanistan. "The Fighter" Mark Wahlberg made his own trek to the war-torn country in December, but with little media attention that typically follows dignitaries and Hollywood stars.

Dressed in jeans, leather jacket, bullet-proof vest and battle-ready helmet, Wahlberg stepped off military transport and into the former home of a Taliban drug lord who had been ousted by troops. There was no Hollywood-style shootout, although he says he might have felt better with a gun in his hand.

The 36-hour visit days before Christmas was made without much fan fare because, he said, he didn't want any publicity.

"That's not why I was going," he told Reuters in an exclusive interview this week. "I just wanted to go over there and spend some time with them and know that we do appreciate what they're doing, and bring well wishes and love and support from home. That's all I wanted to do.

He said he wanted to see for himself the conditions under which the troops and the Afghani people were living. "It was something that I was very excited about doing, and I'm very glad that I made the journey."

Wahlberg, 39, rose to fame as a young rapper and later became a movie actor and producer of hit HBO show " Entourage ," which is based on his own life as an up-and-coming star.

He even portrayed an ex-military marksman in "Shooter," and said that when he was young and in legal trouble he considered joining the Marines. His trip to Afghanistan was the first time, he said, he had a chance to visit troops.

The quick in-and-out was arranged by Bill White, ex-head of New York's Intrepid Air Sea and Space Museum, who met Wahlberg through a friend. Wahlberg told White he'd like to go to Afghanistan . White said he would see if he could arrange it.

Though the pop star, 29, told UsMagazine.com less than a year ago that she felt "very blessed" in her union with music executive Jordan Bratman, 33, a source close to Aguilera tells Us the couple “have been separated for a few months.”

And though Aguilera and Bratman - who met in 2002 (he was a producer on one of her albums) and wed in 2005 - have not yet decided whether to divorce, the source reveals, "they are now living apart, and they will see how that goes."

What went wrong?

“They were very much in love,” explains the insider. "But over the last six months, it became clear they were more like friends than husband and wife." The source adds that Aguilera even "proposed their August trip to Italy to rekindle their relationship, but it didn't help."

10 Most Anticipated Movies of Fall/Winter 2010

By nearly every standard, this summer's movie season was a disappointment. According to the Wall Street Journal, while box-office revenue hit a record $4.35 billion, it was the worst summer for number of tickets sold in a decade. Increased ticket prices -- especially with the higher cost for 3D movies -- inflated Hollywood's bottom line, but fewer people actually went out to the theater.

The reason? The movies just weren't that good. There were a few bright spots; "Troy Story 3" and "Inception" being the rare critical and financial successes. But week after week of uninspiring offerings just did not compel audiences to shell out the cash for a night in at the cineplex.

Hopefully, that will all change as we head into the latter part of the year. Avatar's Special Edition

Can James Cameron singlehandedly save the summer box office with the re-release of "Avatar" this weekend? Probably not, as there aren't enough weekends left this blockbuster season, but this does give movie fans an opportunity to see the "Special Edition" -- with an additional nine minutes of new footage -- of the all-time highest grossing film. Of course you'll be able to see it in IMAX and in 3D, but the best reason of all to see it again just might be for the creatures that didn't appear in the '09 theatrical release.

Fortunately, we did get the director to share an exclusive photo of the Sturmbeest, or as the Na'vi call them, "Talioang," whom you'll be able to catch a glimpse of in the re-released version. You'll note these impressive specimens stampeding below the Na'vi in the photo. And like every living thing on Pandora -- and anything from the mind of Cameron -- they are large in scale. Like massive, single-horned, blue cows, the Sturbeests are harmless unless startled by a predator.

January Jones - New Cast of of 'X-Men: First Class'

Yes, it's official, January Jones will be playing a mutant in "X-Men: First Class" who, unlike her character Betty Draper from "Mad Men," isn't afraid to wear white after Labor Day.

As Deadline first reported (and a source has confirmed to Yahoo!), Jones will be stepping into the role of Emma Frost. In the comic series, Frost was a onetime foe of the X-Men who eventually joined the team of uncanny mutants. The telepathic Frost, always dressed in white, can read minds, alter memories, and turn her skin into diamonds, granting her incredible strength.

Also joining the cast is Zoe Kravitz, daughter of rocker Lenny Kravitz, as Angel Salvadore (not to be confused with the majestically winged, original X-Man named Angel), a relatively new character who debuted in 2001. In the comic books, this newer Angel, whose housefly-like physiology allows her to fly, doesn't particularly get along with her fellow X-Men, especially Emma Frost.

Jones and Kravitz are being added to an already impressive line-up. They will join Michael Fassbender as Magneto, James McAvoy as Professor Xavier, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Rose Byrne (reportedly still in negotiations for the part) as Moria MacTaggart and Oliver Platt as The Man in Black.

Simon Cowell's Blacklist

The past nine "American Idol" seasons have been filled with enough versions of Aerosmith's "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" to make even rumored prospective "Idol" judge Steven Tyler blanch. But on Simon Cowell's U.K. talent show "The X Factor," which starts airing in Britain on August 21, there are a few other oversung songs that contestants will be reportedly forbidden to perform.

British paper News Of The World reports that Simon is concerned that viewers will be bored if the songs remain the same on "The X Factor," so he has advised contestants not to perform typical reality standards. A source told the paper: "This is about people's real honesty and personality. It's about them and their stage presence."

The list of Simon's banned songs includes:

Jason Mraz - "I'm Yours"
Paolo Nutini - "Last Request"
Paolo Nutini - "New Shoes"

Born on February 11th, 1992 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Taylor Daniel Lautner has shown he was destined for a successful life from a very young age. He began studying karate at the age of six, training at Fabiano's Karate School and, by the following year, he was already winning tournaments. He was soon invited to train with seven-time world karate champion Michael Chaturantabut (aka Mike Chat) and, when he was eight, he was asked to represent his country in the twelve years and under division in the World Karate Association where he proved himself by becoming the Junior World Forms and Weapons champion, winning three gold medals. He continued to flourish in the martial arts circuit; in 2003, at only eleven years old, he was ranked number one in the world for NASKA's Black Belt Open Forms, Musical Weapons, Traditional Weapons and Traditional Forms and and, by the age of twelve, he had three Junior World Championships under his "black belt".

However, in addition to his love for karate, Taylor was bitten by the acting bug when he was seven years old, after his martial arts instructor persuaded him to audition for a part in a Burger King advert in Los Angeles. Although he was unsuccessful, he enjoyed the experience so much that he told his parents he wanted to pursue a career in acting. Soon, he and his family were traveling back-and-forth from their home in Michigan to California so Taylor could audition for acting roles on a regular basis. When he was ten, with the frequent traveling and air fares starting to drain them out, his family made the hard decision to relocate to Los Angeles where Taylor would have the advantage of being able to audition on a full-time basis. Although it was a wrench to leave behind friends and family, the move gave him the added bonus of being able to compete on a more intense level in football and baseball.

Since moving to Los Angeles, Taylor has booked roles on "My Wife and Kids" (2001), "Summerland" (2004), "The Bernie Mac Show" (2001), and the The Nick & Jessica Variety Hour (2004) (TV). In addition to television, Taylor has been very successful in the voice over work. Taylor has booked a recurring role as Youngblood on the cartoon "Danny Phantom" (2004) as well as he has recording two episodes of "What's New, Scooby-Doo?" (2002) and 'Charlie Brown'. Taylor has also booked a series regular of a pilot presentation called Which Way Is Up? (1977) along with the voice of Silas in an animation series entitled 'Silas and Brittany'.

WME drops Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson has been dropped by William Morris Endeavor Entertainment.

Earlier this week, the agency's Patrick Whitesell informed the actors' representatives that he would no longer be represented by the agency.

Gibson's longtime agent, Ed Limato, died July 3, and a funeral will take place in New York next week.

WME partner Ari Emanuel had previously expressed hostility toward Gibson after the actor made anti-Semitic remarks and made remarks implying skepticism about the Holocaust.

An agency source said the only reason the agency had represented Gibson in the first place was his association with Limato. "Mel was really important to Ed," an agency source said. You know, there was a time when one of the biggest insults an "American Idol" contestant could receive was to be compared to a wedding singer. But this week, Season 9 finalists Casey James, Michael Lynche, and Andrew Garcia were proud to moonlight at the Detroit-area wedding of lucky couple Michelle Ricketts and Bobby Belke.

According to an Andrew interview with Fox Detroit, the three Idols were in Michigan this week rehearsing for the Idols Live Tour (which kicked off Thursday, July 1, at Detroit's Palace Of Auburn Hills), and were dining at the Royal Park Hotel when wedding guests approached them and invited them to the Ricketts/Belke reception taking place in the hotel's ballroom.

One thing led to another, and before long, the Idols were actually jamming on Motown oldies with the wedding band (luckily, Casey didn't play the buzzkill song "Jealous Guy"). And judging by the delighted expressions on wedding guests' faces in the reception photos, not a single spectator in the crowd seemed to think these surprise performers were "pitchy," dawg.

Channing Tatum will star in FOX's latest sci-fi epic - "Ion," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The trade mag reported that Channing has signed on for the film, which is being described as a "sci-fi romantic epic" and is already being touted as the next "Avatar."

The spec script, penned by Brit-turned-Angeleno Will Dunn, reportedly picked up steam after the multi-billion-dollar success of the James Cameron blockbuster, eventually finding a home at FOX 2000.

Channing knows a thing or two about romance ("Dear John") and CGI-filled shoot 'em ups ("G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra"), but the busy star will show his chops in several more films before "Ion" launches.

LOS ANGELES - The husband of Brittany Murphy was found dead by his mother-in-law late Sunday at the Los Angeles home he shared with the late actress, the coroner's office said.

Simon Monjack's death was reported as a possible heart attack and appeared to be from natural causes, Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said. Monjack was 39.

"He was discovered by Brittany's mom as being unresponsive" in the master bedroom of the Hollywood Hills home at about 9:40 p.m. Sunday, Winter said. Sharon Murphy called paramedics, who pronounced him dead.

There were no signs of foul play or physical injury to his body, Winter said.

Prescription medications belonging to Monjack were found in his bedroom, but there was no immediate indication that he overdosed, Winter said.

An autopsy was planned Tuesday, but a final cause of death would await results of planned toxicology tests, Winter said.

Hip-Hop icon Guru died of Cancer

Hip-hop icon Keith "Guru" Elam died Monday as a result of cancer-related causes, MTV reports. He was 43 years old.

Guru was hospitalized in March, and while some outlets reported that he suffered a heart attack, it was never confirmed.

Guru's friend and partner Solar released a statement following his passing. "The world has lost one of the best MCs and hip-hop icons of all-time-my loyal best friend, partner, and brother, Guru," Solar wrote, according to MTV. "Guru has been battling cancer for well over a year and has lost his battle! This is a matter that Guru wanted private until he could beat it, but tragically, this did not happen. The cancer took him. Now the world has lost a great man a true genius."

Solar said Guru wrote a letter before his passing. "I, Guru, am writing this letter to my fans, friends and loved ones around the world," the letter said. "I have had a long battle with cancer and have succumbed to the disease. I have suffered with this illness for over a year. I have exhausted all medical options."

The letter also addressed Guru's concern for continuing his philanthropic efforts. "I have a non-profit organization called Each One Counts dedicated to carrying on my charitable work on behalf of abused and disadvantaged children from around the world and also to educate and research a cure for this terrible disease that took my life. I write this with tears in my eyes, not of sorrow but of joy for what a wonderful life I have enjoyed and how many great people I have had the pleasure of meeting."

I am a fan of American Idol and this season i watched from the auditions down to choosing the 12 finalist.

The first out of 12 finalist of American Idol got eliminated. Lacey Brown, the 24-year-old from Amarillo, Texas,the first who was sent home.

While her ouster may not have been a surprise, the biggest revelation of the night was that the controversial judges' save was brought back — with a twist.

The move, which was introduced last season, gives the judges the chance to rescue the lowest vote-getter. The decision to use the save must be unanimous, and it can only be used once. The week after it's used, two contestants go home. Once the field is reduced to five, the save is forfeited.

Last season, the lowest vote-getter was forced to sing the song that landed him/her at the bottom — not the best showcase of his or her skills. This season's new twist is that the singer can pick from any song performed during the past weeks. Brown wisely chose to sing Brandi Carlile"s "The Story," her best performance to date. It just wasn't enough.

Despite untimely rumors to the contrary, not only is Johnny Depp very much alive, he's also just been named the runner-up in the much-ballyhooed Harris Poll. The poll, which measures public opinion on movie stars living and long gone, named Depp the second-most-loved Hollywood celebrity. Clint Eastwood came in first.

It's been an interesting week for Depp. Over the weekend, an Internet rumor that the 46-year-old star had perished in a traffic accident in France gained traction on Twitter. Then today, the "Public Enemies" star learned that he finished second in the new Harris Poll to an actor who hasn't been in a movie in over a year. 'Ugly Betty’ star Michael Urie has opened up about his sexuality, insisting he's never felt comfortable labeling himself "gay" because he's enjoyed relationships with women in the past.

The actor, who plays fashion assistant Marc on the hit sitcom, is currently in a long-term relationship with a man but he refuses to categories his sexual orientation.

He tells a magazine, "I've never said I was straight, and I'm not saying I'm gay now. I never lie, and I've never shied away from the topic... I am not a hypocrite - certainly not now.

"I've been in a relationship for a while now, and if you just met the two of us together we'd be 'gay'. But that somehow means anything that happened before (we met) didn't count - and I don't feel that way.

"I know that some people feel that way. They were with women, but it always felt wrong. But it didn't for me. It felt right at the time. It didn't work out, but it also didn't work out with other men - many times. That's why 'gay' never seemed right."

Urie admits he has been guarded about his personal life in the past over fears 'coming out' could hurt his career, adding: "Certainly there was a point where I was like, 'I don't know how long Ugly Betty is going to last and how well it's going to do, and I might want some real anonymity if it ends quickly.' I was also never one to seek out publicity or attention, and I basically didn't want to be labeled...

I was really suprised when i heard the news about the death of Brittany Murphy. She's one of my favorite actress and now she's gone, sad to say.

Brittany Murphy died of cardiac arrest early Sunday morning, after her mother had found her unconscious in the shower, according to a report by TMZ. The actress was 32.

It is reported that a call went out to 911 from Murphy's Los Angeles home at 8 a.m. Attempts to revive her were not successful. A spokesperson for Cedars Sinai Medical Center confirmed to PEOPLE that Murphy died at the facility Sunday at 10:04 a.m.

The actress's rep, Nicole Perna, said in a statement Sunday afternoon, "In this time of sadness, the family thanks you for your love and support. It is their wish that you respect their privacy."

In addition to The White Hotel and Clueless, the Atlanta-born Murphy costarred in 8 Mile with Eminem, and Girl, Interrupted, with Angelina Jolie. Her first Hollywood job, at age 14, was as the star of the series Drexel's Class.

In May of 2007, she married her White Hotel director, Simon Monjack.

Before meeting the British writer-director, Murphy had been engaged twice. She split with best-boy girl Joe Macaluso in August 2006, and ended her engagement to Jeff Kwatinetz, CEO of the Hollywood talent agency The Firm, in 2004.

What's wrong with this picture?

Lots, according to the Catholic League, which has voiced its opposition to PETA's latest shock-'em-into-action ad campaign, which features a naked Joanna Krupa sporting nothing but angel wings and holding a strategically placed crucifix, while exhorting us to "be an angel for animals" by adopting, rather than buying, new pets.

Plus, there's another ad in which a topless Krupa holds her dog, Rugby, in her arms, a rosary dangling from her right hand.

More improper usage of a sacred Christian symbol, claims the league, which most recently took issue with an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm, in which Larry's urinary backsplash hits a painting of Jesus.

But Krupa is a Catholic herself, and she objects to this holier-than-thou stance.

"It's understandable that the Catholic League is wary of another sex scandal, but the sex we're talking about pertains to dogs and cats," the model and Dancing With the Stars contestant fired back in a statement.

"As a practicing Catholic, I am shocked that the Catholic League is speaking out against my PETA ads, which I am very proud of. I'm doing what the Catholic Church should be doing, working to stop senseless suffering of animals, the most defenseless of god's creation."

Sounds like Krupa, who's also a veteran of PETA's "I'd rather go naked than wear fur" campaign, has thought this through.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is getting quite the reputation for using sex to sell its message. In January, NBC refused to air a PETA commercial during the Super Bowl in which a model appeared so enamored by her meatless lifestyle that she seemed ready to go to bed with her vegetables.

The 2009 CMA Awards show was undoubtedly one of the most dramatic in years.

History was, literally, made.

The 19-year-old Taylor Swift became the youngest artist ever to win the Entertainer Of The Year award.

Not only that--Swift became the first solo female to win it in a decade, taking the torch from 1999's Shania Tawin, and toppling the reign of the formidable Kenny Chesny.

Not only THAT--she also won Female Vocalist, Album of the Year, and Video of the Year.

Oh, and if Taylor Swift didn't make enough history for you?

Darius Rucker also went down in the CMA books as the first African American to win New Artist of the Year, as well as the first AA artist since Charley Pride to win a major individual award.

Incredible. Simply amazing, uplifting, laudable moves in the world of country music.

Phew. If you aren't wiping sweat off your brow by now, ain't nothing going to make you excited. This was a truly wonderful, surprising evening.

And much to this blogger's overall delight--there was plenty to be thrilled about, in addition to the feats performed by Swift and Rucker. In a show that has been somewhat mundane and predictable in past years, a breath of very fresh air seemed to circulate throughout the entire three-hour program.

A record number of new artists made their first forays into the nominations list--with critical and popular favorites Lady Antebellum winning two awards, Single of the Year and Vocal Group of the Year (a considerable steal from the mighty Rascal Flatts' multi-year streak). Another critical pick, Jamey Johnson, also picked up an award for Song of the Year.

The show's performances proved to be considerably energized and fresher than years past, and added yet more drama to the night. Standouts included a white-hot cover of the Charlie Daniels classic "Devil Went Down To Georgia" by the Zac Brown Band, the about-to-retire Brooks & Dunn's (allegedly) last-ever CMA performance joined by ZZ Top, Jamey Johnson perfectly paired with fellow outlaw-country boy Kid Rock, George Strait storming Martina McBride, and Tim McGraw making a confident appearance on the CMA stage for the first time in several years.

Shakira Changed Name & Wore Disguise For UCLA Class

How did Shakira manage to take a summer history class at UCLA in 2007 and not make headlines until after the course was over?

The Colombian-bred international pop star revealed her successful game plan in a recent interview with the UK's The Guardian.

"I used to wear a cap and a big backpack," Shakira explained. "I looked like a boy. I didn't get recognized."

When onlookers got suspicious and inquired whether or not she was the "Hips Don't Lie" singer, she told them that her name was Isabel, which is actually one of her middle names.

Her simple plan worked. Professor Robert Cleve, who taught the Introduction to Western Civilization: Ancient Civilizations from Prehistory to Circa A.D. 843 class, had no idea "Isabel" was actually a pop star.

"She told me she was visiting from Colombia and that she was just doing this for her own enlightenment and enjoyment," Cleve told the Associated Press in 2007. "She looked like just an ordinary student. She wasn't flamboyant...she didn't act like a big celebrity or anything."

The singer, whose song "She Wolf" is No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, sat near the front of the class and regularly stayed afterwards to ask questions, Cleve added. "I was really impressed with how intelligent she was," he said.

Shakira decided to take the class after wrapping the tour for her album, "Oral Fixation."

When most celebs need a break from the business, they typically take a real vacation. They travel to a remote destination, relax, and clear their minds.

But Shakira said challenging her mind instead was the ideal getaway after the tour.

"It was such a long tour, I needed a break from me," Shakira told The Guardian. "The universe is so broad, I cannot be at the center of it. So I decided to go to the university and study history for a summer course, just to kind of switch gears, taste the student life."

Shakira has been known to spend her spare time studying, and learning about the countries she visits, her manager Fifi Kurzman told The Associated Press.

While Shakira did not attend the last few classes, she told The Guardian that she enjoyed the experience. "I would go to the university over and over again if I could," Shakira said.

Stephen Gately, a singer with the Irish boy band Boyzone, died while on vacation in Spain this weekend, the group announced on Sunday.

The Irish pop star and actor made headlines when he came out as gay in 1999. Gately was on vacation in Majorca with his long-time partner Andrew Cowles on Saturday when he “tragically died,” according to a message on the band’s website Sunday.

He was 33.

“Stephen tragically died yesterday whilst on holiday with his partner Andrew in Majorca,” the statement read.

The circumstances surrounding Gately’s death remain unclear but it was reported he died after a night out.

Gerald Kean, a Gately family friend, says the the singer died of natural causes.

“There’s no foul play involved, and it’s not suicide. It’s just a tragic accident is what we’ve been told, and we’re happy that that is correct information,” Kean said. “There is nothing untoward. It’s not drugs, we don’t believe. It’s not suicide. It’s not murder. It’s not a fight. That’s what we’ve been told.”

But she continues to deny she's with child - even to friends. Despite a photo showing the smiling pair leaving an OB/GYN clinic in Madrid last month, they've been telling friends to hold off on the baby gifts.

"They say the pregnancy stories aren't true," says another skeptical friend.

Publicists for the stars declined to comment.

Cruz professed ambivalence about being a wife as recently as August. "I don't know if I believe in marriage," the actress, who'd weathered the glare of her romance with Tom Cruise, told the UK's Psychologies magazine. "I believe in family, love and children."

She added, "When I [have children], I want to do it really well. I want it to be my best project in life."

Sadly, actor Patrick Swayze is dead at the young age of 57, according to Reuters. In March of 2008, we learned that Patrick was battling pancreatic cancer but that he also had every intention of fighting it. It looks like that heroic fight is over as the cancer claimed his life.

His publicist released the following statement to the press on Monday: "Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months."

The three-time Golden Globe nominee will forever be remembered by fans for his role as Johnny Castle in Dirty Dancing. R.I.P. Patrick Swayze - you will be missed.

NEW YORK (Reuters) – The MTV video music awards held on Sunday paid tribute to the late Michael Jackson, but was overshadowed by an outburst by rapper Kanye West, who interrupted an acceptance speech by U.S. singer Taylor Swift.

West, who is known for his outspoken ways, jumped up on stage while the 19-year-old Swift was making an acceptance speech for best female video for her hit song "You Belong With Me," beating out singers including Beyonce Knowles and Lady Gaga.

"I am really happy for you," West said. "But Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time."

MTV said West, who was spotted earlier on the red carpet drinking alcohol, was ejected from an awards show already known for its circus-like atmosphere. West received loud boos from the crowd when his name was mentioned later in the show.

West apologized on his website. "I'm sooooo sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans and her mom," he wrote. "... I'm in the wrong for going on stage and taking away from her moment!"

Beyonce took the show's top honor -- video of the year -- for her single "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" before recalling her first MTV award with her old band, Destiny's Child, and calling back Swift to the Radio City Music Hall stage to finish her acceptance speech.

"I would like Taylor to come out and have her moment," she said, before the country music star reappeared and thanked her fans.

MTV said Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Green Day won three awards apiece, the most of any artists on this year's awards show.

Final Farewell Of Michael Jackson

LOS ANGELES (AFP) – More than two months after his death from a drug overdose, Michael Jackson will be laid to rest here Thursday in a private funeral for family and friends at a star-studded Los Angeles cemetery.

Jackson, who died aged 50 on June 25, will be entombed in an ornate mausoleum at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, where Hollywood icons such as Humphrey Bogart, James Stewart, Spencer Tracy and Walt Disney are buried.

No details of the 45-minute service have been released, although reports Thursday said soul diva Aretha Franklin could sing at the service as mourners said a poignant final farewell to the "King of Pop."

Jackson's children -- Prince Michael, 12, 11-year-old Paris and Prince Michael II, 7 -- would leave notes in their father's coffin, reports said.

Messages reading "Daddy we love you, we miss you," would be placed in Jackson's gold-plated casket alongside his trademark single white glove.

Close Jackson friends Diana Ross and Brooke Shields are reported to be among the mourners who will be in attendance.

Thursday's service contrasts with the lavish public memorial held at Los Angeles's Staples Center in July, which was attended by 20,000 fans and beamed live around the world to an estimated audience of 1 billion.

Police in the Los Angeles suburb of Glendale urged Jackson devotees to stay away from Thursday's funeral, saying the neighborhood surrounding the cemetery's imposing entrance would be cordoned off.

"A special request would be to encourage fans to stay at home," a statement said. "The closure of the streets for the day will not afford anyone the opportunity to get anywhere near the gates."

Police helicopters, sniffer dogs and plain-clothes officers would patrol the 300-acre (120-hectare) cemetery, on the lookout for any fans trying to sneak into the service, which is due to take place at 7:00 pm (0200 GMT Friday).

Jackson is to be interred at Forest Lawn's Great Mausoleum, an elaborate neo-classical building inspired by Genoa's Campo Santo.

Forest Lawn, which opened in 1906, is also home to replicas of some of Michelangelo's greatest works, including "David," "La Pieta" and "Moses."

The cemetery also features a stunning recreation of Leonardo da Vinci's "Last Supper" in stained glass.

Jackson's casket will be placed in a private area of the crypt that also houses Hollywood legends Clark Gable, Jean Harlow and Carole Lombard. Other icons buried at the cemetery include Lon Chaney, Nat King Cole and Errol Flynn.

Although open to the public, Forest Lawn is renowned for its privacy, and unlike other cemeteries in the Los Angeles area does not provide maps of celebrity graves.

On Wednesday, a Los Angeles judge supported a request from Jackson's mother, Katherine, that the cost of the service be paid for by her son's estate.

A lawyer for the two entertainment industry figures who control Jackson's fortune said the costs of the service would be steep.

"The expenses will be extraordinary, but Michael Jackson was extraordinary," Jeryll Cohen said, without specifying the anticipated bill.

Jackson's delayed funeral comes after months of speculation about the exact cause of his death and reports of divisions within the singer's family about where he should be buried.

Jackson's elder brother Jermaine had said he wanted the star to be interred at his Neverland Ranch estate north of Los Angeles. Jackson fled the property in 2005 following his acquittal on child molestation charges.

Los Angeles coroners said last week that Jackson's death was being treated as a homicide and revealed that the star had six drugs in his body when he died, including propofol, a powerful anesthetic.

Propofol is used to induce unconsciousness in patients undergoing major surgery in hospital. Medical professionals say it should never be used by private individuals at home.

The coroner's announcement fueled speculation that authorities may charge Jackson's personal physician, Conrad Murray, in connection with the death.

Jackson, one of the most influential figures in pop music history whose four-decade career included the highest-selling album of all-time -- "Thriller" -- had been preparing for a July concert comeback at the time of his death.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Tom Cruise's son is among the newest Wolverines to join the remake of "Red Dawn," the 1984 action movie about a group of teenagers who form an insurgency when their town is invaded -- this time by Chinese and Russian soldiers.

Connor Cruise, 14, will join fellow new recruits Josh Hutcherson, Isabel Lucas and Edwin Hodge in the MGM/UA project. Already cast are Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck and Adrianne Palicki.

Cruise is playing Daryl, the mayor's son and best friend of tech geek Robert (Hutcherson, in the role originated by C. Thomas Howell).

Lucas is Erica, head cheerleader and the Peck character's girlfriend whom he desperately hopes to spring from an internment camp. Lea Thompson played the character in the original. Hodge will play Danny, the coolest kid in school and star wide receiver who helps establish the resistance.

"She played those and then we got her out of here," Rogers said. "We asked her, `What do you wanna do?' and she said `I want to get out of here.' So we walked her to a side entrance nobody knew about and got her in her car."

"The Last Song" will be filming on Tybee Island and in nearby Savannah until mid-August, stirring interest among locals and tourists alike. The movie features Cyrus as a teenage girl struggling with her parents' divorce who tries to reconnect with her father during a summer at his home in a quiet beach town.

The movie's publicist, Rachel Aberly, did not immediately return a phone call and e-mail message seeking comment Wednesday.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Brad Pitt and his siblings have given $1 million to help a Missouri hospital open a new pediatric cancer center that will be named for their mother.

Pitt and his siblings' families, Doug and Lisa Pitt and Rob and Julie Neal, gave the money to St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Mo., on Saturday in honor of their mother's passion for children's issues.

The hospital is opening the Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center this summer in the town where Pitt and his siblings grew up. The donation will pay to hire the only pediatric oncologist and hematologist in the southwest Missouri region.

The new center will make St. John's one of six affiliates of St. Jude's Children's Research in Memphis, Tenn., meaning the center will be able to participate St. Jude's clinic research trials.

Jessica Alba won't face vandalism charges

OKLAHOMA CITY - Police have decided against pursuing a criminal vandalism case against Jessica Alba over some posters that were plastered around downtown Oklahoma City.

Police Sgt. Gary Knight said none of the owners of property on which the posters were placed wanted to press charges against Alba, who has apologized.

Police never interviewed the 28-year-old co-star of the "Fantastic Four" movies, "Sin City" and "Good Luck Chuck." She is in Oklahoma City shooting a movie, "The Killer Inside Me."

Police found the posters — aimed at raising awareness about sharks' declining numbers — glued to a downtown bridge, utility boxes and a billboard for the United Way charity.

Knight said it is typical not to pursue vandalism charges when property owners don't want to prosecute.

I have been an avid fan of Adam Lambert since this the last season of american idol began. And even if I found out that he is rumored, well he even confirmed it that he is a gay but it doesn't matter to me. I just love his voice!

Adam Lambert appears to be this year's chosen "American Idol" contestant, whatever his sexuality may be, signaling a shift from the moral scrutiny once piled on "Idol" contestants.
Lambert has never publicly acknowledged whether or not he's gay. But he did confirm that photos posted on the "American Idol"-mocking Web site votefortheworst.com depicting him dressed in drag and kissing another man were real, taken at the Burning Man arts festival, telling "Access Hollywood," "I have nothing to hide. I am who I am. And this is about singing … nothing else."
